Premier Inn apprentice Paige Flynn in the Get in Go Far campaign at Lord Mayor’s Show
Leeds’ very own Paige Flynn, who is one of the stars of the new government campaign Get in Go Far, was part of the procession through the London streets at the prestigious Lord Mayor’s show over the weekend.
Paige took part in the procession at the show with a group of over thirty apprentices from a range of industries and sectors to showcase some of the 1,500 occupations, across 170 industries, that apprenticeships are available in. The procession was part of their support for the governments ‘Get in Go Far campaign’, which encourages more young people to apply for these recognised and rewarding careers.
Paige, who works as a Hospitality Supervision and Leadership Apprentice for Premier Inn based in Yorkshire and Humber, won Premier Inn’s National Apprentice of the Year in 2015 and was then one of 13 apprentices selected from hundreds of entries to star in the ‘Get in Go Far’ campaign, all of whom are appearing in national advertising campaigns across TV, social channels and outdoor posters.
Paige left education before finishing sixth form, but has since completed her Level 3 qualification while working at Leeds Central Premier Inn and now manages her own team and is a qualified Host at the hotel.
Paige Flynn, Hospitality Supervision & Leadership apprentice at Premier Inn, said:
‘I was delighted to be part of the procession to help make apprenticeships more visible and promote them as a valid career option to young people who cannot decide what to do when they leave school.’
Sandra Kelly, Whitbread’s Head of Education, said:
‘We are incredibly proud of Paige at Premier Inn, she’s an invaluable member of our team in Leeds and she deserves all this recognition. It’s really important to us to be able to offer employment with education through apprenticeships for local people who may not have achieved relevant qualifications at school or college.’
