Premier Inn and Whitbread restaurants say huge thank you to Forces’ heroes
A veteran has been chosen to launch a free breakfast offer for retired and service personnel in Scotland.
Heath Reynolds served 23 years in the army working in Germany and carrying out training exercises across the world. He was also a member of the Special Forces and finished his career working in intelligence at Catterick.
He now works as a night porter for Premier Inn, which is offering a free breakfast to uniformed military personnel and veterans who are guests of the hotel this Remembrance Day (Wednesday, November 11).
The offer is exclusive to Forces’ heroes who are staying overnight in any one of the Whitbread owned Premier Inn hotels in Scotland, on Tuesday, November 10, ahead of Remembrance Day.
The free breakfast will be Premier Inn’s famous cooked breakfast. Guests’ need to book ahead either by emailing the hotel or responding to the email confirmation they are sent upon booking. On the day, they then need to be identifiable to breakfast hosts through valid ID, uniforms, or in the case of veterans, their medals.
Forces’ heroes and others, including the NHS can also benefit from discounted food on Remembrance Day and year-round in hundreds of Whitbread restaurants nationwide, including Beefeater, Brewers Fayre, Table Table, and Cookhouse and Pub. To be eligible for the discount, people simply need to hold either a Defence Discount Service or a Blue Light Card.
Professions eligible for a Blue Light Card include, but are not limited to, doctors, nurses, police, St John Ambulance, mountain rescue and fire service personnel.
Heath said: “I’m so proud to work for a business that acts as a force for good in the community and am delighted we are able to show our appreciation for veterans and service personnel in this small way. Being based near the garrison we have many guests from the armed services or who are families of army personal as well as retired personnel. Many of our team members also have connections to the armed forces, such as wives of the Gurkha regiment. I really enjoy this as I feel I have an extra personal connection with our guests and team”.
Premier Inn Managing Director Simon Ewins said: “The UK’s Armed Forces do us proud on a daily basis, so we are delighted to treat Forces’ heroes guests to a free breakfast this Remembrance Day as a small token of our appreciation. We are also pleased to offer year-round discounts thorough the Defence Discount Service and Blue Light Card schemes – meaning those in the Armed Forces, alongside a host of other people who dedicate their lives to helping others, can tuck into a hearty price reduction at selected restaurants’ up and down the country all year round.
To redeem the offer, members of Blue Light Card or Defence Discount Service simply need to present their membership card to the server prior to ordering and prior to requesting the bill at participating sites. Only one card per party is required with a minimum purchase of one main meal from the main restaurant menu.
Whitbread’s commitment to the Armed Forces and other key workers is part of its Force for Good programme.
