Asset Reunification

We have engaged a professional asset reunification service, AssetTrace+, to reach out to shareholders who have, for one reason or another, become disconnected from their Whitbread shareholding and have unclaimed dividends as a result.

It is important to us to reunite as many shareholders as possible with their lost assets, we understand that there are various reasons shareholders can lose touch and not claim their dividends. For example, a change in circumstances may result in details on the share register being out of date or original cheques may get lost in the post or misplaced.

If you have received a letter from AssetTrace+ please take action in order to reunite you with your unclaimed assets.

AssetTrace+ is a trading name of Link Market Services Limited and is part of Link Group who are the registrar for Whitbread PLC.

AssetTrace+ operate a service which helps reunite individuals, or their legal representatives, with unclaimed assets relating to companies in which they are or were a shareholder.

AssetTrace+ have written to the registered address, or last know address of the shareholder, or their legal representative. Please follow the process provided in the letter, which has been designed to make the recovery of unclaimed assets as easy as possible.

Dividend forfeiture applies to individuals where some, or all, of their dividend payments that were paid over a certain period (as indicated in the letter) are outstanding. If individuals do not respond, their unclaimed dividends will be forfeited and returned to the Company. Whitbread PLC’s Articles of Association allow unclaimed dividend payments that were paid six or more years ago to be forfeited.

Share Forfeiture applies to shareholders where all dividends paid over a certain period are outstanding and who have been inactive in respect of their holding during that time (as indicated in the letter). If shareholders do not respond, they will have their entire holding forfeited, comprising of their unclaimed dividends and their shares which will be sold and the proceeds/dividends returned to the Company.

Again, this is permitted under Whitbread PLC’s Articles of Association which allow shares to be forfeited if certain conditions are satisfied, which includes twelve years’ worth of inactivity during which no dividend payments have been cashed nor activity/contact made by the shareholder.
