Premier Inn has demonstrated its commitment to Derby with two new hotels (Cathedral Quarter and Riverlights), two extensions to existing hotels (Derby West and Derby South) and one complete refurbishment to an existing hotel (Derby East). Although Derby City Centre, Cathedral Quarter and Derby West are both already open for guests to enjoy, the other three sites will open their doors throughout February and March, bringing the total number of Premier Inn hotels in the city to six.
The huge commitment to the local area will contribute over £18million of fresh investment whilst generating 59 new year-round jobs for the residents of Derby and the surrounding area. Following the extensive renovation, new build and conversion projects, an extra 279 rooms will now be available for visitors to the town.
The brand new 118 bedroom hotel is situated in the Cathedral Quarter, while Derby West will offer 86 rooms and Derby South 51 rooms after extension and refurbishment work. The newly acquired Derby City Centre Riverlights hotel will have 117 new rooms and Derby East’s full refurbishment will continue to offer 108 rooms. The hotels will be located across the city, offering guests the option to stay across a variety of different locations.
As well as being known for its beautiful historic surroundings, Derby is home to high-quality shopping outlets along with a bustling market. The cultural hub of Derby can be explored at the city’s beautiful Cathedral or at the Derby Museum. Another hotspot for culture is Derby’s Industrial Museum, which celebrates the city’s important role in the birth of Britain’s Industrial Revolution.
The new hotels, extensions and refurbished sites in Derby offer visitors the perfect base from which to explore all that the city and surrounding area has to offer – it also offers a great nights sleep at the end of a busy day or the night before an important meeting. All hotels have a new breakfast menu for guests at reasonable prices for a great start to the day.
Derby City Centre Cathedral Quarter, Riverlights and Derby East all have on-site Thyme restaurants, with Derby West offering a Beefeater restaurant next door and Derby South providing a Table Table restaurant.
Elaine Newbold, Premier Inn’s Cluster General Manager for Derby, comments: “We are looking forward to welcoming guests to our expanding portfolio of hotels in the area, offering a great nights sleep and fantastic value to those visiting for both business and leisure. With our luxurious king-size Hypnos beds, we want guests to Wake up Wonderful for the day ahead. Positioned in fantastic locations, within walking distance to the city centre, or a short drive to East Midlands Airport, the hotel will give guests everything they need to explore the area and beyond!”
Councillor Martin Rawson, Deputy Leader of Derby City Council and Cabinet Member for Communities and City Centre Regeneration said: “I am delighted that Premier Inn are opening new hotels in Derby. The Riverlights hotel is particularly interesting for us, as it is one of the new riverside developments that has incorporated flood defence measures as part of Derby’s Our City Our River objectives of reducing flood risk to the city. This demonstrates how we can bring forward appropriate and sustainable regeneration along the river. We will see the city centre re-connected to the river and reap the important economic and social benefits associated with a reinvigorated riverside community.”
Each hotel boasts new-generation bedrooms, each featuring an impressive 40″ flat screen TV, bright, modern bathroom with a large showerhead and slumber-inducing, king-size Hypnos bed.
